Colorizer preview randomly stops working after few changes

On a repeater, when previewing colorizer changes for gradient, variations and palette (did not try the other modes), the preview feature is inconsistent. I stops working either immediately or after a few changes. We have to toggle it to make it work again for one change.
Also, I found that the preview button seems ticked by default on some edit panels and disabled by default on other panels. I wonder if there is a way it could remember the last setting so that each user can choose the preferred default based on their computer performance.
