Line Drawing Tool: Can't use the delete key to remove the line immediately after Mouse release

If you draw a line with the Line Tool, and decide you don’t want to keep it, if your first action after releasing the Mouse is to to try to delete it by pressing the delete key, it will not be removed- even though it is of course selected, and is confirmed as such in the Layers Panel.
You must use a second step and use the Pointer Tool to select it, then the delete key will delete the line.

I believe this is because the line is selected in the sense that an object would be selected with the shape editor - delete is probably trying to delete a selected node instead of trying to delete the path, but there is not a selected node.
It probably works that way because you can then drag additional lines from the end point to extend the path rather than creating a separate one. If you drag additional segments in that manner, the delete key does delete the newly added segments, but not the entire path.

@Vector-Rock To delete the line that was just drawn use Undo.
