Erratic halftone editor in 1.3.002
-
I'm sorry to have to report a bug on the new release (it's packed with improvements).
The halftone editor has a very erratic behaviour, in relationship with the halftone edit panel.
steps :
- select the halftone editor tool
- click on a shape : halftone effect gets added to the shape
- double-click halftone editor icon : halftone modal window opens
- change halftone : no change
- uncheck recheck preview : change is applied
- click ok : change was not applied
- move the halftone overlay center point out of the shape : change is applied as in preview
Additionally, after a while repeating these steps :
- select move tool
- move the object : the objects moves by itself outside of artboard
I disabled direct preview for halftone effect but it did not change behaviour.
It seems the interactive editor is "fighting" with halftone modal window as the changes made with one do not seem reflected in the other. Like if they retained their own states independently.

@EricP I opened a bug on this
-
@EricP Double clicking on the icon (and then confirming) will only set the default halftone and will not apply it to the selected object. The halftone is applied only when clicking on the object. This is by design.

@VectorStyler I find this very confusing and I bet other users will find it confusing too.
So, to edit an already created halftone, we cannot use the halftone dialog opened by double clicking the tool icon ?
Since this panel looks the same as the one we can open from appearance panel or the styling menu, we could expect it to fetch the current state of selected object halftone effect and allow to edit it.
If you watch this video closely, you will find that multiple things don't work by design (or at least what I understand of it): https://go.screenpal.com/watch/cTlXDNnYYLo

Yes, and this this consistent with double clicking on other tool icons.

I will try to improve this.
