Red Dot UI

  • There are a lot of "Red Dot" issues posted all over the forum.
Most of them are problems related to rotation.
I will try to check the Red dot itself in VS, separating it from the rotation feature and the center of the bounding box.
Then I will note the question and a small suggestion.

The Red dot is an unfinished UI unique to VS.
It is after that that I look to Illustrator and other standard applications for a solution.

The roles of the Red dot:
    a) Starting point of a path
    b) Origin of character (line) (x-axis 0, y-axis 800/1000)
    c)Center of rotation
    d) Center of the object bounding box
In this case, the Red marks are usually gone.
Here's a special case: for odd-cornered shapes, however, it stops being d) and appears as c) and e).
    e) Center of the shape

As shown above, I think there is a problem in trying to represent entities with different personalities in a single symbol.
What do a), b), and c) have in common?
    What does d) mean?

    My ideas

    1. Fix the function of the red dot and then associate it with rotation
    2. Stop giving the red dot all of the above roles a) to e).
    3. Don't show it by default. Call a)-e) by user's will
    4. Give a color to each of a)-e).
    5. Basic settings are made in Preferences.
    6. Specify individually in propaties.
    7. Temporarily operated by mouse.

@861475_VctSt (5) The color of of various markers can be set in Preferences -> User Interface -> Interaction Indicators field (and Indicator Outline / Fill).

There will be a fix to have the transform center at the object center by default for text shapes.

Some explanation: the bounding box center and the object origin is not always the same. For rectangles and ellipses it is. But for an odd cornered star, the center of the star (origin) and center of the bounding box are different.

Currently the transform center (red dot) is set by default to the object origin, not the bounding box center. This causes the issue with the text shape, where the origin is the starting point of the baseline.

I add your comments to the backlog, will try to do as much as feasible.

    Thanks.
My long time fog has lifted.

It was my assumption that a single Red dot has many different properties.

I tried to change the color and size of each in the preferences.
When I expanded Node scaling, the colors became more visible and easier to use.
