Document Default Object Properties Options

  • User Interface Improvement:

    @vectoradmin,

I would like to see VectorStyler add the capability to change the Document Default Object Properties like employed by CorelDRAW.

I think this is good example of excellent UI design that is simple and effective that would be a great enhancement to VectorStyler.

Below is a common way it is done in CorelDRAW:

    .
    .

    1. With NO OBJECTS SELECTED (required), Click on the Outline Pen (Stroke) Icon in the Status Bar (Bottom of the Screen).

    .

    1. This brings up the Outline Pen Options Dialog Box. Make all the Outline (Stroke) settings you want, including Color, Width, Line Style, Corners, Caps, Position, Arrowheads, etc. Click Ok.
      .

    .

    1. This brings up the Change Document Defaults Dialog Box. Choose which Object “Types” you want the change the Default Object Properties to.
      .

    .

Now all those objects will be drawn, and persist, with these Outline/Stroke attributes for the Current document.
    .

    1. Now do the same to change the Fill. Click on the Fill Bucket Icon in the Status Bar.
      .

    .

This brings up the Edit Fill Dialog Box. Make all your Fill Attributes Setting choices for Fill “type” (None, Uniform, Fountain/Gradient, Vector Pattern, Bitmap, Two Color, Texture, PostScript); plus Color and Color Mode.
    .

    .
    Click Ok.

This brings up the Change Document Defaults Dialog Box. Make your selections and then Click OK.

    .

Now all those objects will be drawn, and persist, with these Fill Attributes for the Current Document.

Any changes you make are applied to all new objects created in the Active (current) document and are Automatically Saved with the Document.

If you want to use these changed custom settings and make them Permanent for all subsequent documents that you create, you can set them as the New Document Defaults using:
Application Menu Bar->Tools->Save Settings As Default.

    *Footnote:
    CorelDRAW terms defined:

Below is my suggested VectorStyler Workspace and how it would look:

@Vector-Rock I add these to the backlog. Technically these will be doable, once the status bar is implemented.
