Spell check and default language

Hi, my system preference for language and region is set to English (UK) but the spell check language defaults to English (Australia).
Until now I've not used the spell checker, so I'm not sure if it's working as expected or I'm not using it correctly. For example should miss-spelt words be underlined in red (which they are not) as per the usual spell checking convention?
The checker works when a single word is selected and fetched, but doesn't appear to pick up anything in text blocks when in document or any other mode. Thanks

@Jono The spell checker has been improved in build 1.0.062
The "spelling" language of a character style must be set in the Typography section of Character Options.
