      After watching a video about a dash pattern trick for Illustrator.
      I experienced a bit with the dash settings in VS and found
      these possibilities.

        Dash patterns, you may not know.
        The dash pattern settings

        Here the settings, the trick work by using different Cap shapes.
        Add to this that you can create custom Cap shapes in VS
        and you may see the possibilities.

            @B-Vs-V said in Dash patterns, you may not know:

            what I don't understand is the lack of visualisation of all the lines/dashes and the gaps

            In that image there is a 0 dash, which results in a dot. What visualization issues are there?

              @B-Vs-V

              The Dashes themselves are pretty well visualized, I would say.

              The Pattern which results from using Cap shapes need a
              bit experimentation, i think. But with Preview on, it looks easy
              to me to spot the usable one by playing with the dashes settings.

              Found the Pattern above by just playing around a bit and tried
              different Caps
