      Hello!

As the title says, if I click with the text tool and place a default, 12pt Times "Lorem Epsom" text element, then drag-scale to a new size with the transform tool, the size displayed in the Character panel remains at the default 12pt size. If I then type a new size in the Character panel, say, 24pt, the scaled text element then doubles it's size. Since the size in the character panel isn't updating when drag-scaling, any adjustments made there are done using the displayed size as a base.

I'm on a Non-M1 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, running Big Sur 11.4, and using the latest Universal build of VS.

      Thanks in advance!

Also, if you try to post a message here without having confirmed your email address, you'll lose everything you've typed 😞

        @cjochetz Welcome to VectorStyler!

When resizing a text shape (a.k.a point text) the font size should change, unless some other shape effect was applied on the text.
If this is not the case, then it is a bug, but I could not replicate it.

If possible, sending (by email) to support at vectorstyler.com a sample file where a text shape was scaled and the font size did not change would help a lot.

NO shape effect applied. I even tried updating the OS and resetting prefs to default. NO change. I'll get a doc together to email.

@cjochetz Making sure you were aware a new big update was released earlier this morning. Hopefully you were able to download it and recreate the issue in there- might make it easier to diagnose using the most current version if it's not already fixed

Yes, indeed. I created the doc emailed to support in the new version to ensure that the bug was still present.

@cjochetz Got the file (thanks!), and now the issue is clarified.
For some reason, the transform tool changed the X/Y scaling factor of the font (see 200% in the character panel, at the A underlined icon).

This is a bug, I added it to the backlog and will be fixed for the next build.

About scaling with the Transform panel, in this case shape transform is added on top of the object, so the font size will not change. I will make this optional (to choose between adding a shape transform, or resizing the font).

To chime in, I'm seeing the same. Create a Lorem Ipsum, scale with the Transform Tool, and the fontsize stays at 12pt.

Edit: nvm, I saw it stay at 12pt at first, but when I tried again, the pointsize changed.

                      Thanks, @vectoradmin

@Gremriel , You bring up a good pot in that it doesn't seem to be completely consistent in how it behaves. Usually, if I change the default 12pt Lorem ipsum to another point size in the Character panel first, and then scale with the tRansform Tool, the character panel will correctly update it's number accordingly. but not always. Weird.

                        Hi,

Yes, the first time I place a Lorem Ipsum and scale it, the value stays at 12pt. If I then change the value, every Lorem is then placed with the value I specified, like when you assign a color to a shape, all other new shapes inherit that color.

But it seems VS is getting lost at what value I assign to text at times. In this image, both Lorems are 10pt, according to VS:
                        0_1627975432337_VectorStyler_7qUq9aNUUO.png

The bottom Lorem was scaled up randomly, then I set it to 10pt. The top Lorem is the correct 10pt.

Confirmed! Thank you @vectoradmin! I'm seeing a new odd behavior now, however. After I place the initial text object, then scale, The Character panel changes from the Default Times New Roman to Arial but the font itself doesn't change. See attached. alt text

                                  Hi,

I still see a scaled up text display as 12pt in the latest update.

@Gremriel regression, it changes the character scaling instead. will be fixed.
