      Initially I just tried to move the node utilizing smart guides but the guide did not appear on the vertical center at all.

      So simple manipulation with tool, dragging the node vertically down with Shift, and it was jumping all over the place. I thought perhaps snap was playing havoc but disabling that did not make any change.

      Moving node with direction constraint using Shift is not working as expected.

        @syllie This limitation/glitch was reported before, and if I understand correctly it's in the backlog to be improved.

          @b77 Thanks, I did look through the reports before putting it in. Happy to know it is on the backlog already.

            @syllie It was discussed here:
            https://www.vectorstyler.com/forum/topic/2582/how-do-i-constrain-using-the-shift-modifier-key-and-just-get-the-nodes-to-move-vertically-or-horizontally/6

            I also hope it will be improved soon.

              as a workaround its possible to move
              a node with the arrow keys
              (holding shift adds a multiplicator)
              down key in this case

              here a video example

              Win 11
              CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, 6-core.
              GPU: Nvidia Geforce RTX 5070.

                @Subpath Thank you. the vids are really helpful and I can see how the transform panel comes in handy here!

                  @syllie Yes, this can be replicated. The root cause of this bug is known (conflict with other modifiers), I will try to fix this ASAP.
