Oh wow. That is helpful. Before I asked here at the forum I checked all the tools / filters / brushes but didn't come up on double clicking the icon. I don't know how Adobe is doing right now, but Macromedia Freehand and Fireworks had a little indicator within the tool icon where you could double click it when there was a "options"-menu available to be opened. maybe a suggestion for the toolbox-face-lift? Once again: thank you a lot for that support. It was such a time saver!!!

@Subpath I would think as many relevant helpful ideas, suggestions and helpful posts as you want to share would be welcomed. It helps a lot when topics are separate threads because I bookmark relevant answers to questions and often go through the history of threads before asking a question - or I know the question was already asked before and I can go find my answer directly

@encart The problems is that the pattern content uses symbols linking into the document. This is by design for symbols. Maybe when creating Presets maybe these symbols should be detached (copied) and not linked? Meanwhile a workaround. How were those symbols created? There are three ways to create symbols in VS: setting the object name and role (will be linked). creating from an object in the Symbols panel (will be linked). creating in the Presets panel (will not be linked). This one should be used for presets.

@Boldline Looks like some NodeBB limitation. The settings is to allow up 4MB file size. But that does not work. Maybe link it with dropbox, or some other file sharing site, until I find a solution.

@Boldline I think this could be caused by the curve control point being too close to the node.

@encart @Boldline For me at least the Esc works. But there is also a Preferences -> Changing Options -> Don't Extend with Pencil that can be checked to skip extension even if selected.

@Boldline AI also has this but I think the default there is Winding. Once the winding fill mode is set for a shape (Appearance panel, or Object -> Content -> Winding Fill), the new shapes will be drawn with it. I think there could be a preferences for having it on by default.

@Boldline There is an option: Prferences -> Editing Options -> Adjust Node Removal Curvature, that will not approximate the original curve when removing a node.
