Troubleshooting
User Data
VectorStyler user data is stored in a system specific folder. Access to this folder may be required to solve some issues.
On MacOS the user data is stored in:
~/Library/Application Support/NumericPath/VectorStyler1.3/vector/data/
On Windows the user data is stored in:
c:\Users\<user-name>\AppData\Local\NumericPath\VectorStyler1.3\vector\data\ folder or in the
c:\Users\<user-name>\AppData\Roaming\NumericPath\VectorStyler1.3\vector\data\ folder
This is system dependent, and newer versions of Windows may place this folder somewhere else.
The user folder contains the presets changed by the user, and the resources with the current workspace and settings files.
Before making any changes to these folders, you should exit VectorStyler.
Removing the presets folder will delete all user defined presets and restore the presets to application defaults.
Removing the resources folder will remove all workspace and settings customization, restoring VectorStyler to its default settings.
Registering a Trial
When launching a trial version the first time, VectorStyler will ask for an email address to register the trial. The email address is verified by automatically sending a trial code to the email, and this trial code is needed to continue using the VectorStyler trial.
You can find your trial code in your inbox, after requesting a trial from VectorStyler. If you cannot find your trial code, you may check the spam folder, or contact is for assistance.
The VectorStyler trial will launch only with an internet connection, as the trial is verified with the license server.
Crashing at Startup
If you experience crashes at VectorStyler startup and it cannot be launched, try one of the following:
- Uninstall recently added fonts: the crash may occur due to some recently added font
- Restore the VectorStyler settings and workspace to its defaults, by removing the resources folder as described in the User Data section.
- Manually uninstall and reinstall VectorStyler.
The VectorStyler startup may also take a longer time, if there are a large number of fonts installed in the system.
System compatibility issues, especially with newer (or too old) versions of MacOS or Windows, might also cause issues at startup.
Broken After Update
VectorStyler uses an automatic updating system, where if a new version is available, it is automatically downloaded and installed (subject to user confirmation).
The has been some issues observed with the MSI installer on Windows, where not all files are correctly updated by the installer.
This may be caused by VectorStyler still running, which the updater tries to replace files.
If the update appears to be broken, or you are receiving diagnostic messages after starting VectorStyler, try manually removing and reinstalling the latest version.
Settings are lost after restart
In case a settings is not persistent after restarting VectorStyler and it needs to be set again, make sure that the settings and workspace files exists and are written in the “User Data” folder (see first point).
If these files do not exist, or their date and time is not the last time VectorStyler was exited, it means that VectorStyler cannot write the user data, or create user data folders. This might be an access rights issue, specific of the operating system version.
Unable to Open File
Files may get corrupted for a number of reasons, including crashes while saving the file.
VectorStyler tries to keep automatic backup files, and offers these files for opening if a crash occurs.
If you are unable to open a VectorStyler file, or VectorStyler crashes while trying to open a file, this might be because the vstyler file got corrupted.
In these cases we are available for support, send the file to the support email, and we will try to recover the file using internal recovery tools (if possible).
Cannot Find the Panels
VectorStyler panels can be hidden by a single press of the Tab key. When the panels are hidden, pressing the Tab key will show the panels again.
It may happen that the Tab key is inadvertently pressed, and panels become hidden. In this case try pressing the Tab key to see if panels can be shown again. Otherwise, try opening the panels from the Window menu.
If panels still cannot be recovered, it is recommended to restore all workspace and settings to defaults, by removing the resources folder as described in the User Data section.
Issues with Tablets
Some combinations of tablets and Windows versions may not work well with VectorStyler, in the default configuration.
VectorStyler should support pressure sensitive input, and multi-touch gestures from tablets.
If you are experiencing issues with your tablet, try changing the Windows Ink option in the tablet driver settings (if available).
An other option to try is the User Tablet Driver option in the VectorStyler Settings. This option will enable the direct access to the Wacom tablet driver, and it can solve tablet compatibility issues, if you tablet supports the Wacom driver interface.
Registering a License
When purchasing VectorStyler, a unique license code is automatically generated and sent to the email address provided at purchase. This license code should be available in your inbox, once the purchase is complete.
The license code must be used with the user name and email as provided at the purchase, in the Help -> Register VectorStyler menu.
When registering VectorStyler, a working internet connection is required, so that VectorStyler can confirm the code and user info with the license server. Otherwise, a registered VectorStyler should be usable offline also.

In case you cannot file your license code, please contact us and we can send you again the license code sent to you when it was purchased.
It is important that you use the email address you had when purchasing VectorStyler, otherwise we will not be able to identify the purchase and the corresponding license code.
