The example I gave that showed it working was from Affinity Designer. I used symbols. There was no need to convert the rectangle to curves. Although Affinity Designer is my main app, I'm trying to use VectorStyler more since VectorStyler has more tools, some of which I find quite useful. For example, I like how VectorStyler has "center text on baseline." Affinity Designer doesn't have that tool, so I have to manually align the text. But VectorStyler is a lot more complex, so there has been a bit of a learning curve.

@JuurGroove said in Loading Custom Brushes: are the brushes made for Illustrator the best option in terms of compatibility with VectorStyler? Yes. But only vector brushes are supported (Photoshop brushes are not supported). An AI file containing vector brushes can also be opened with the Panels -> Presets -> Open Brush Preset File command to open the file content into a brush preset panel.

@VectorStyler Ok, I found a workaround without having to flatten the output. sampled all the colors created by the blend mode saved the swatches to the Palette panel reversed the foreground object (stroke) and background removed any blend modes applied saved colors directly to the stroke and background Would be great if the program could do this for me, but perhaps it's not so easy. Just an idea for future.

@Boldline said in Why is black listed in the list of active colors in "replace color" panel?: Or to have a setting that limits the scope of color results to the individual artboard, all artboards, the canvas, or the full document? From my vantage point, this would be a powerful way to dial in what the scope of the listing would be

@Devil-Dinosaur Nice tip! Also, using the divide boolean will work as well

@monsterfox said in Path editing and errors: It is not known whether this is the problem that causes the path offset error Yes, it is an offset "approximation" error for thin outlines (improved at larger zoom). Also: for the offset path effect, there is a Precision field, that can be reduced (there is always a compromise between precision and number of nodes added).

@Subpath Fix for this will be in the next build: palettes that are opened will show up in the list regardless of the folder.

@JuurGroove said in Tiled windows keyboard shortcuts on macOS Sequoia: but presumably because of the lack of Window menu in VS, the tiling keyboard shortcuts do not get triggered at all. Yes, the problem is that MacOS has a bit strange way of handling certain shortcuts. If n action is not in the menu as they expect (with the standard action assigned to it), then it is not handled. This creates problem with apps that allow menu customizations and don;t directly use those macos actions.

@Subpath yes, editing in an external palette is saved immediately. I will try to improve these.

@VectorStyler I already wrote that it was just a question, so there is no need to rush. If it is a useful addition to the selection options, then gladly. In the meantime, I think i already have a workaround as is possible in VS using the Colorize function with a 2-colored or n-colored palette.

@debraspicher said in Astute Graphics: My dream is export/file/canvas/artboard mgmt is streamlined and made as user friendly as possible in a future update. That for me would make the programs easier to test also for undesirable outputs. Would you be willing to share more specifically in depth what you like about the Affinity model and how that contrasts with what VS currently offers? It sounds like you have had a lot of knowledge and experience using the Affinity export settings and I'm sure your ideas could help in the export, etc of files in VS

@Pat said in AI file in VS? not perfect: The artboards are all there, and all that's left are colour issues with the strokes. If it is possible to reduce to a small example with the artboards and the strokes and send it to me, that would also help.

@VectorStyler said in The advantage of spot colors: color also contains the tint That should stay that way, right? At least that's how AI taught me, keep the tint value. This is the desired result for clarity (made it one by one, not all at once). [image: 1730387960757-add85fa1-7b82-42d2-af78-6e6dae2b32a3-image-resized.png]

@VectorStyler yes, but not all the attributes have been kept, and the design is less perfect.
