@b77 I agree with you that it should not be buried in the preferences, especially considering there are several great selection options as you listed in your mock-up. "Current artboard, current layer, current selection, viewing area, are all great options for this. If they are easily accessible, I would use each of them at different times in my work, knowing now that they are available/could be available. Sometimes the select list feels a little cumbersome and lengthy. There are certain select options I use a lot more than others. Would it also make sense to have the select options available at the top right? Just throwing the idea out there. @encart Yes, the enter issue can be replicated on Mac also. I will check if the external fonts can have preview.

@encart Drag the panel to the right margin so that a vertical blue highlight is shown, and dock it there.

@vectoradmin Restarting VS fixed the issue with the line width reverting back each time I changed it. However, I still get the brush tool defaulting to the second brush in the pulldown list even when I've chosen the top one for example. This does not happen if I chose other brushes in that pulldown - the brush does not revert and satays with what I selected - which is what I would also expect when I choose the very top simple brush

@vectoradmin Yes, I know, it was disabled here for some reason I don't remember on the Windows computer. But the feature itself ...

@Ingolf Seems that in macOS the Alt+Arrow keys are used to jump between words in the text editing mode. This is a standard macOS thing. Try Control+Alt+Comma / Period to decrease / increase tracking in the editor.

@b77 ok I guess I had not given it that level of thought or maybe I was thrown off because I was trying to switch from the brush tool to the magic wand and it was continuing to make the brush strokes when I thought it would become a magic wand. I did not put two and two together that I needed to use it as an extension of the transform tool. thanks for helping me think that through
