@vectoradmin ok I think that solved it. I did not fully understand what that "Control Handle Mode" choice would give me. I had it set to "all" and that explains why it grabbed even the invisible. Thank you for explaining.

@vectoradmin I agree it does not need to be as advanced as the two dedicated programs mentioned earlier in the thread That said, if it's not too complicated to do a little more than the basics, I think that should be considered. checking out the two programs, there are some great control features I'm sure people would like. For example, being able to change the color of the text background and the mouse click indicator- even tying their color to the layer color is interesting. @b77 Yes it should do that. But in this case for some reason it did not work, I have to test it more.

@Ingolf Well, everthing has its pro an cons. I am also fine with your idea of a panel and like it. Because it can contain more content.

@Boldline @vectoradmin what about some sort of "viewer" that shows the "delta" between the default settings and what the user has altered? This way you could get a short-list of any value you have changed from default.
