@Boldline You can isolate some of the objects by hiding the others, then Select by Style works only on those that are visible: select some objects on multiple layers; invert the selection; hide these (Object menu > Hidden); select an object with the attributes you need (say, pink rectangle) and… use Select > Select by Style > Fill Content.

@fde101 said in 3D Help: @Igull not sure about the demo version, but I have a paid license of Art Text 4, and I can just drag a PDF exported from VS into the Art Text window and it loads it as a 2D shape. I can then right-click and convert to 3D after which an option to set the extrusion depth becomes available in the properties area on the right. Mmm, tried a number of PDFs all of which dragged across, but didn't show on the artboard (or only showed the bounding box - and you couldn't right click to create 3d)- seems extremely slow and very unstable (tried it on an M2 this afternoon - a bit faster, but same results) - may be something to do with the demo version. But all it has is a TRIAL watermark, everything else is supposed to work according to the info. It's probably fine for doing text and minimal 3D objects I think - might be too much heavy lifting to move all my bits around. Thanks for the info, I'll keep the trial, might find other uses for it ! @VectorStyler I reinstalled a couple older builds (73 and 80) and tested the same file in both and I'm getting similar results to build 85. Perhaps it's just something I'm imagining. Or perhaps it has to do with the kind of art I am working with. I appreciate you checking regardless. thanks!

@VectorStyler Not with every file. Usually it seems to open with the same view I last saved and closed out the file from. but that's not always the case. like the first example in this thread, I did not have the viewfinder in that position prior

@Boldline said in Option to respect existing groups clipped within a shape with deep select tool?: If something is grouped before being clipped inside of another shape, is there a way to respect that grouping when I select on a part of it with the "deep select" transform tool? Not currently. The only way to do this is to use the regular selection mode (first icon) and then double click to isolate into the clipped shape.

@b77 said in Artboard Origin: @Igull Indeed this is a bit "non-standard", but it could be that placing guidelines is something needed more often than moving the artboard origin? Yes, we all require guidelines, but we just drag them from the relevant X or Y ruler surely - that's been the way since Pontius was a pilate - not from the reference point, where you get two at right angles rather than just the one that you required ?? In any case, once you save a document with the origin in the upper left corner and with top-down coords enabled, any new document should have these same settings by default until you change them. And if you wish to quickly change the co-ordinate system mid-stream ? It's just very untidy and not up to the usual high quality VS scratch really. I do realise that many users are simply (???) generators of wonderful artworks and really don't require the accuracy that I need/want, but that's not a reason to let our standards slip LOL Neil

@ChrisP I think for the inch unit, the automatic subdivision should use 1/8 instead of 1/10. I will change this.

@VectorStyler Only speaking for myself, I liked the way I could use right click to change the color of the background color swatch and use the left mouse button to click the foreground color - seemed to work with any palette colors were pulled from. A few months back @encart and maybe a few others wanted a way to consistently make all right clicks define the stroke and all left clicks define the fill, regardless of what was happening in the two square color swatch panel. So I understand their request but I was having a hard time adjusting to that method. Right now for example, in the main loaded palette, it works like I first described (left click sets foreground color) and in the added palette bar, it works the other way (left click defines fill color) - this is where it gets confusing because I have to remember to use it differently based on where I grab a color from.
